"Dean's List" joke

A college student phoned his father with some great news.
"Dad, I've got some really great news for you," he said.
"What's that, son?" his father asked.
"Do you remember that $500 you said you would give me if I made the Dean's list?"
"Of course I do, son," replied his father.
"Well, dad, you get to keep it!"
