"What's in a Caste?" joke

S. Jha, Collector of Customs, was once asked by his neighbour K. Chandramurti whether he was a Muslim, a Christain, a Kshatriya or a Sudra. Jha was incensed, "I am amazed at your ignorance! Jhas are Hindu Maithili Brahmins of the highest castes."
"I see, so you are a Hinduja," remarked Chandramurti.
